By Trish Morrison

I wrote this a while back and thought it was the funniest thing ever but no one else did. I don’t care. I still think it’s funny and I’m trying again. You may want to listen to All She Wants to do is Dance by Don Henley so you get the tune if you don’t remember it from the beloved 80’s.

They’re pickin’ their noses

and stickin’ boogers in their mouth

and all she wants to do is sleep, sleep

Babies to toddlers,

her boobs have gone south

and all she wants to do is sleep

Assorted juice boxes, is all there is to drink

And all she wants to do is sleep, sleep

Dishes piled high

in the kitchen sink

And all she wants to do is sleep.

crying-baby-sleepy-mom-300x241Crazy kiddo runnin’ round with sharpie on her face

And all she wants to do is sleep, sleep, sleep

Wild-eyed screaming toddlers messin’ up the place

And all she wants to do is sleep

Or maybe weep.

She can feel the stress

From all the mess

She missed the party

She wants to lie down

All she wants to do is sleep

Well the preschool closed the classroom

for the summer break

and all she wants to do is sleep, sleep

And now she’s gonna find out

how much of this she’ll take

And all she wants to do is sleep.

But that won’t keep the preschoolers from havin’ a meltdown or two

And all she wants to do is sleep, sleep

They still are gonna demonstrate

All the whining they can do

And all she wants to do is sleep

All she wants to do is sleep

Or maybe weep

In her dreams she makes the airport

For the last plane out

As she taxies down the runway

She can hear her husband shout,

He says, “get back home to your family”

But if she ever does

She’ll bring a nanny,

Cause all she wants to do is sleep

Or maybe weep

Never mind the mess

Causing all the stress

She missed the party

She wants to lie down

All she wants to do is

All she wants to do is sleep

Or maybe weep

All she wants to do is sleep.
